Cordialis Msora-Kasago Put African Heritage Foods at the Center of the Plate

Let me tell you about Cordialis Msora-Kasago.

There’s a dietitian from Zimbabwe who came to America with a conviction most nutrition advice ignores: the foods of your culture are not the problem — they’re part of the cure. Her name is Cordialis Msora-Kasago, and she built a practice around eating well the African way.

The Work

Cordialis is a registered dietitian nutritionist and the founder of The African Pot Nutrition, a consultancy dedicated to improving the health of people of African descent through evidence-based, relatable diet and lifestyle guidance. Her whole philosophy starts from where you are — and includes the foods you already love.

She’s also a Regional Nutrition Manager for Sodexo, where she supports registered dietitians working in hospitals across the western United States. And she’s a media spokesperson for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, one of the most recognized voices in her field.

An advocate for heritage foods and healthy cultural practices, she specializes in the prevention and treatment of chronic disease, family wellness, and nutrition communications — working extensively with diaspora communities and communities of color.

The Roots

Cordialis was born in Zimbabwe and now lives in Menifee, California. She earned her bachelor’s degree in nutritional sciences from California State University, Los Angeles, and her master’s in African Area Studies, with a public-health emphasis, from UCLA.

She’s board-certified in lifestyle medicine by both the American College of Lifestyle Medicine and the International Board of Lifestyle Medicine — and she brings more than 20 years of experience in food and nutrition to everything she does.

Why You Should Know Her

Here’s why Cordialis Msora-Kasago matters right now: health disparities get worse when the advice doesn’t fit the life. Cordialis closes that gap by insisting that traditional ingredients and cultural practices are assets in the fight for better health, not obstacles to it.

She’s teaching people of African descent that the road to wellness runs straight through the kitchen they grew up in.
