Let me tell you about Camille Stewart Gloster.

If you’ve ever worried about who’s actually in charge of keeping AI from running wild, meet the woman whose entire career has been answering that question at the highest levels of American power.

Camille Stewart Gloster has served two U.S. presidents. She was the first Deputy National Cyber Director at the White House. She’s been a senior policy advisor at the Department of Homeland Security. She led security strategy at Google. And this September, she’s putting the whole thing in a book so the rest of us understand what’s going on.

The Work

Camille is now the founder and CEO of CAS Strategies, an advisory firm at the intersection of AI, cybersecurity, and national security. She helps organizations figure out how to control the autonomous AI agents that are being deployed everywhere — before they become a liability instead of an asset.

Her new book, The Insider You Built: How Organizations Stay in Control of Autonomous AI Agents, drops September 15, 2026 (Wiley), with a Washington D.C. launch on September 23. It’s a real-world guide to the question everyone’s been asking: if AI agents can act on their own, how do you keep control of them?

Before running her own firm, she was the first Deputy National Cyber Director for Technology and Ecosystem Security at the White House Office of the National Cyber Director — the first person ever in that role. Before that, she was Google’s Global Head of Product Security Strategy, and earlier, Head of Security Policy and Election Integrity for Play and Android. She’s also held leadership at CrowdStrike and Deloitte.

The Roots

This is a sister from the DMV. She got her B.S. from Miami University (Ohio) and her J.D. from American University Washington College of Law. She’s a lawyer who walked into tech — and that hybrid is exactly why she’s been able to sit in rooms most engineers can’t enter and translate between them.

Camille is also a co-founder of #ShareTheMicInCyber and #NextGenNatSec, movements built to elevate Black voices in cybersecurity and national security. She’s not just a leader in the room — she’s building the tables so more of us get seats.

Why It Matters

Here’s what I want you to hold: the person who helped write the playbook for securing AI at the White House, at Google, at DHS — she’s a Black woman from the DMV, and she wrote it all down so it’s not a secret anymore.

Control over autonomous AI is going to be one of the defining issues of our decade. And the people shaping how we handle it look like her. That’s the future I want to see.
